HMS Campeador
The motor yacht HMS Campeador V. was built for Vernon W. MacAndrew Esq. at Dartmouth in 1938 and was designed by Norman Hart.
At the outbreak of war, HMS Campeador was offered to the Admiralty for patrol work and the owner volunteered along with two other members of the Royal Dart Yacht Club to help crew the yacht.
On the 23rd of February 1940, the vessel was requisitioned for war service on harbour patrol duties at the hire rate of £60.0.0d per month.
On the 22nd of June 1940, HMS Campeador V. (FY002) was sunk by a magnetic mine and foundered. 20 people lost their lives. Two crew were picked up.
